Biography

Received his BA from Hunter College of CUNY and his professional training from the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. He has acted with the American Conservatory Theatre; California Actors Theatre; the Oregon, Marin, and Sherwood Shakespeare Festivals; New Mexico Reperatory Theatre, on television, in film, and in the Broadway production of Brecht & Weill's Happy End. He spent seven years as Associate Artistic Director of Intiman Theatre in Seattle, where he directed, among others, Jeffrey Hatcher's Smash (world premiere), Pinter's Betrayal, Hare's Skylight, and Moises Kaufman's Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde. He also directed the world premieres of Mark Jenkins' All Powers Necessary and Convenient at the University of Washington, and Jamie Baker's South Central Rain, for which he received the LA Drama Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Direction. Other directing credits include Pioneer Theatre Company, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Utah Shakespearean Festival, PCPA/Theaterfest, and PAC Theatre Co., where he was Artistic Director for two seasons. He has taught at the American Conservatory Theatre, PCPA, the Professional Actors Conservatory of Rancho Santiago College, the University of Washington, and Cornish College of the Arts. He was a founding member of Theatre Puget Sound, a service organization for theatre professionals in the Pacific Northwest.
